‘Money doesn’t buy you success’ – Alex Neil feels Preston can achieve promotion

first_imgAlex Neil believes his Preston North End side can challenge for promotion to the Premier League next season despite the club’s small budget.The 36-year-old replaces departed boss Simon Grayson, who left for Sunderland, and has signed a one-year rolling contract at Deepdale.The Lilywhites finished in 11th place in the Championship last season, but Neil insists his side can compete against the richer sides of the division as they bid to secure a place in the top flight.READ MORE: Championship fixtures 2017-18 – Every PNE game revealedSpeaking to host Jim White on talkSPORT, new North End boss Neil said: “Our budget is not going to be one of the big ones – everybody is aware of that – but money doesn’t buy you success.“There are a lot of clubs who have spent a lot of money – Aston Villa are a great example and Preston finished above them in the league last season.“I think our togetherness, I think our determination, the fact we have young and hungry players, will be certainly something I will be tapping into.“And certainly, if we can try and improve the squad, that can only help.”Listen to the full interview with Alex Neil above!last_img
