Photo credit: Facebook profileDominica records two more road fatalities for 2012 with an early morning traffic accident in Mahaut which has claimed the life of two young men.Yonnel Pascal of Mahaut and Leslie George of Coulibistrie, the owner of 180 Sounds have been confirmed dead by the police following a collision between a motorcycle and a pedestrian about 3 o’clock on Saturday morning.Superintendant of police with responsibility for the southern division Yvonne Alexander confirmed to Dominica Vibes News that the motorcycle driver [Leslie George] and the pedestrian [Yonnel Pascal] were confirmed dead by medical officials at the Princess Margaret Hospital while the pinnon rider [female companion] of the motorcycle is being treated at the hospital for injuries which she sustained as a result. Photo credit: Facebook profile.Alexander has also made a special appeal to motorists, especially motorcycle drivers “of the need for them to ensure their own safety; to reduce the speed, to be a lot more careful while they are commuting on the road”.She also noted that from eye witness reports and her observations at the scene, “this accident could be attributed to speed”.Alexander also noted the graveness of the incident as it claimed the life of “an innocent bystander”.A six year old female of Grand Fond, Dalia Bertrand died after colliding with a DOWASCO pickup truck in that community On January 6th, 2012 which was the first road fatality for the year.Dominica Vibes Newscenter_img Sharing is caring!
