CVEDC Hires New Executive Vice President

first_imgThomas Pelletier, President of the Central Vermont Economic Development Corp, is pleased to announce that Susan ‘Sam’ Matthews has been hired to succeed Richard Angney as Executive Vice President of CVEDC. Angney who is retiring on June 30 has headed CVEDC for the past nine and a half years.CVEDC is a private, nonprofit economic organization founded in 1976. Matthews will be only the fourth EVP over that period of time. CVEDC’s mission is to facilitate economic development activity in the 23 towns and cities that make up the Central Vermont region.According to Pelletier, Sam Mathews has an excellent background to take over the leadership position at CVEDC. She is currently Vice President of the Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation and has been with GBIC since 1999. Prior to that, she was the Industrial Expansion and Regional Support Coordinator for the Vermont Department of Economic Development for two years. She has a background in real estate and currently serves as chair of the Vermont Real Estate Commission. While at GBIC she has worked with local companies on expansion and retention issues while working with businesses interested in relocating to Chittenden County. She has worked with the various municipalities on business, infrastructure, storm water and permit issues. She serves as commissioner at large on the Chittenden Regional Planning Commission representing Business/Industry.last_img
