Home caregiving training to begin Wednesday

first_img Remember America’s heroes on Memorial Day The Pike County Extension Office is offering a home caregiver’s training for people who would like to improve their knowledge and skills in caring for older and disabled people in the home.The Home Caregiver Training consists of three classes beginning Wednesday and continuing Aug. 22 and 29. All classes will meet from noon until 4:45 p.m.There is a one-time registration fee of $10.“The program is for family members or friends of those who need in-home care,” said Grant Lyons, Pike County Extension coordinator. Print Article Latest Stories “The program includes health monitoring skills, basic dementia, behavioral complications, caregiver’s stress, nutrition, food safety and other topics related to caregiving,” Lyons said. “All caregivers are welcome to take advantage of this training, whether it’s all three classes or only one. Caregivers will benefit either way because any class that a caregiver attends will include useful and beneficial information.”Ten caregivers have registered and others who would like to attend are encouraged to go by the Pike County Extension office at 306 South Three Notch Street in Troy and register or call 334-566-0985. Caregivers may also register at the door.
