ESPN’s Desmond Howard Is Getting Mocked For His National Title Pick

first_imgDesmond Howard gives his take on ESPN.ESPN College GameDay star Desmond Howard is a Michigan alum, and from time to time, that shows through in his analysis. When it comes to his national title pick for the 2018-2019 season, it’s showing through a little more than usual.Howard made his College Football Playoff picks this past weekend, and like a true homer, he picked Michigan to win it all. He has the Wolverines knocking off West Virginia in the semifinal and then Alabama in the championship. Clemson is the fourth team in his field.Michigan is expected to improve with Shea Patterson under center, but considering the Wolverines have never made the College Football Playoff, Howard’s prediction seems like a bit of a stretch. Plus, the Big Ten is loaded this year, so Michigan is going to have its hands full.Howard’s pick is getting mocked by college football fans – because of course it is.Desmond Howard just now …. “Michigan wins it all” pic.twitter.com/S1P80KoIKz— angelique (@chengelis) August 25, 2018Desmond Howard is the worst, picking Michigan to win the national championship and having Shea Patterson as a Heisman dark horse— Kevin Collins (@TriremeXIII) August 26, 2018Is any rational fan across the country supposed to take his predictions serious? I get being an alum and perhaps a little biased. But I’d like to think even most Michigan fans are shaking their heads at his M.O.— Sunny Sandhu (@StateSunny) August 25, 2018Is any rational fan across the country supposed to take his predictions serious? C’mon Dez— Larry Carey (@lbcosu) August 26, 2018Howard will appear again on College GameDay this season – he’s had the gig since way back in 2005.Michigan, meanwhile, will open its season with a huge game against Notre Dame. The Wolverines will likely need to win that one to have any shot at qualifying for the College Football Playoff this year.last_img
