(Photo by Corey Perrine/Getty Images)Officiating crews make mistakes in every single game, so it’s not surprising to see that Michigan fans are unloading on the refs in Wisconsin.During the first quarter of the game, Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson fired a nice pass over the middle of the field to Ronnie Bell. The sophomore wideout made an incredible effort to corral the football. At first glance it seemed as if Bell cleanly caught the ball. Once the replays were shown it became very evident that it was a completed pass.Despite all the angles showing the football firmly in Bell’s grasp, the refs decided to overturn the call and rule it incomplete. Even the broadcasting duo of Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt were baffled by the officiating crew’s decision. Here’s the play:Michigan may have a budding go-to guy in Ronnie Bell pic.twitter.com/XUmNsCf3su— Bryan Fischer (@BryanDFischer) September 21, 2019Michigan fans are obviously upset with the call. After the play was ruled incomplete, the Wolverines failed to convert on third down and were forced to punt.In addition to fans crushing the officials on social media, a few notable media personalities went on Twitter to share their thoughts about the call.Colin Cowherd and Stephen A. Smith thought it was a clean catch. That’s a catch. Bad call.— Colin Cowherd (@ColinCowherd) September 21, 2019Damn great catch by @UMichFootball Ronnie Bell. Big time catch…..completely extended on that 22-yard catch. The kid can play. Ball can touch ground so long as it’s completely secure so it should be ruled a catch. But again, the kid’s got skills.— Stephen A Smith (@stephenasmith) September 21, 2019Shortly after the Wolverines punted the ball back to the Badgers, Jonathan Taylor broke off a long touchdown run to give his team a 14-0 lead.FOX is broadcasting this showdown between Michigan and Wisconsin.last_img read more
